Double You Studios Jackets

Jackets are where the Double You Studios range makes its loudest statement. There are nineteen of them, priced from £80 to £125, and they fall into four families: denim, workwear, graphic and panel jackets, and weather jackets. Each one is designed to be the piece people notice first, with everything else in the outfit kept simple around it.

Denim jackets

The Double Denim Jacket at £95 is the backbone of the category. A denim jacket is the most useful outer layer a wardrobe can have: it works over a tee in spring, over a hoodie in autumn, and under a heavier coat in winter. It also ages better than almost anything else, softening and fading along the lines of how you wear it. If you like the idea of matching jeans, the same wash is available as the Double Denim Set.

Workwear jackets

The Workwear Jacket comes in washed olive, washed black and washed grey, at £80. Workwear cuts are boxier than a denim jacket, with a straighter hang and more room through the body, which makes them easy to layer over a knit. The washed finish takes away the stiffness a new workwear jacket usually has, so it feels broken in from the first wear.

Panel, radar and camo jackets

The Dys Panel Jacket and the DYS Radar Jacket, both £95, are the graphic end of the range, built from contrasting panels and details that give a plain outfit something to be about. The Reversible Camo Jacket is two jackets in one: camo on one side and a plain face on the other, so you can pick the mood of the day without buying twice. Windbreakers and rain jackets

For wet and windy days there is the DYS Windbreaker Jacket, in its original colour and in green, and the Rain Jacket in green, grey and black at £80. The Bomber Jacket in black, at £125, is the most considered piece in the category: a clean, cropped shape that finishes at the waist and works with both baggy jeans and slimmer trousers. The Spiral Jacket, in washed khaki and washed black at £115, sits alongside the Spiral Jacket Hoodie as the more structured version of the same idea, and its washed finish makes it feel worn in from the start.

How to wear a statement jacket

Let the jacket do the talking. With a graphic or camo jacket, keep the rest to plain colours: a white or black tee and dark jeans and pants. Choosing your size

• Jackets have room for a hoodie or a knit underneath. If you only wear them over a tee, your usual size will feel relaxed.
• Workwear jackets are cut boxier than denim jackets. Stay with your usual size for the intended shape.
• Measure a jacket you already own across the chest and down the back, then compare with the product page.

Care

Wash denim and washed workwear jackets inside out on a cool cycle and as rarely as you can get away with; every wash fades the colour a little. Hang them to dry rather than tumble drying. Windbreakers should be washed without fabric softener, which clogs the fabric.
